About David Cards

David Cards is a conversation-driven educational tool designed to help individuals and groups explore questions of Jewish identity, connection to Israel, and a sense of Jewish Peoplehood.

Its journey began in the summer of 2014, rooted in the atmosphere of open dialogue that defined the Jewish community of Denver, Colorado, and the Staenberg-Loup JCC, where creator Yoni Alon served as a Shaliach (Israeli emissary) on behalf of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).

The project lay dormant for several years, until the COVID-19 pandemic created the unexpected space for reflection and creativity. During quarantine in a small Tel Aviv apartment, Yoni was encouraged by the educators of JAFI to take the early version of the cards and transform it into a fully-developed educational tool.

In summer 2022, David Cards was officially launched, featuring original illustrations by Israeli artist Sapir Wiener Aviv, whose wisdom and sensitivity brought visual depth to the emotional and spiritual complexity of Jewish life, identity, and belonging. The project was made possible through a joint partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel and the support of AMI – The National Alliance Strengthening Israelis’ Connection to World Jewry.

Since its release, David Cards has become a widely-used resource in schools, camps, and JCCs across the Jewish world. With over 7,000 sets in circulation across more than 20 countries, this tool continues to evolve, ensuring it remains relevant, respectful, and empowering in times of challenge and change. A new Family Edition is currently in development, designed to invite parents and children into meaningful conversations about Jewish identity and how they relate to Israel.
